Cornerstone 2010 – HXCChristian.com Represents

Cornerstone has come and gone.  Even though it was almost a whole week, it feels like it went by quickly, and there is never enough time in the day to catch all the shows you would like to go and see.  And, when you running your own “Generator Tent” it is even harder.  I was there to see shows, tape them, talk to the bands, and to meet people and tell them about the site.  Not to mention meet a lot of great people that already know about the site and post on the forum.

Doug (one of the contributors at HXCChristian.com) did a pre-show in Campbellsville, KY the Sunday before Cornerstone.  I drove 9 hours to get to Campbellsville, it was an easy trip.  The show was awesome.  Doug is working with the University to put on show for all the kids and peeps in the area.  Apparently, like most small towns, there isn’t a whole lot to do there, so putting on shows is a great way to blow off steam and stay out of trouble.  The lineup was Restore the Roar (Doug’s band), Debtor (Philly hardcore), Worker (Tennessee hardcore), Dead Icons (Lexington hardcore), and The Showdown (Metal).  I was really impressed with Debtor and Worker (Debtor is a Christian band, Worker is not although their message is positive, and the dudes in the band are really cool).  It was a fun show, and I was glad that HXCChristian.com could be part of it.  After the show, RJ (HXCChristian.com

Cornerstone 20TEN – WOW!

Hey People! Sorry for the long break.  Cornerstone was more than I ever imagined.  I am still pouring through video and pictures and slowing updating.  I plan on having a big write up of all the events, shows, and meet and greets we did.  In the meantime.  Check out the photo album page HERE and also, check out the HXCChristian.com Youtube page, there is already a lot of great video I loaded and am working fast and furious to load more.  Look for an epic post on the festival within the next 5 days.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by the tent and drank some DIY Gatorade, picked up some free HXCChristian.com stickers, and to everyone that helped out (Doug, Alex, Sebastian, Katie, RJ, the Debtor crew), a special thanks!

Debtor – PA Christian Hardcore – Up In Ya Face

Debtor is a band that is making waves in the East Coast hardcore scene.  In an area that is by all means mainly devoid of a Christian hardcore or punk scene, Debtor is leading the way for Christ into the scene.  Being from the Philly area where Debtor is located, I know first hand that bringing their message to the scene is an uphill battle, but one that needs to be done.  That being said, Debtor is a hardcore band that has a really unique sound, hardcore mixed with a little punk, and sprinkle in a little post hardcore sound ala Quicksand style and voila, there you have it.  Debtor recently signed to Blood & Ink Records which is carrying their first album called “Deliverance,”  you can get a copy of their album by visiting Blood & Ink Records.

Q: Tell me about the band: How long have you been together?  Who are the members?  How did the band start?

A: Well, I began the attempts to form this band as far back as Spring of 2006, but it didn’t become a full band until October 2007.  That lineup was together for about a year, and then we were on hiatus for about another year before reforming in December 2009 with new members.  The new lineup is Jon Eirich (guitar), Jason Warner (guitar), Skot Rudy (bass), Josh Galloway (drums), and myself, Alan Popoli (vocals).

Q: How long

Abilene; Hometown Hardcore

Hey everyone!

Hope you are gearing up for the Christmas.  I know that things are chaotic out there, as they are here, things feel like they are falling apart all over the place, but….one thing is for sure…..God is still in charge, and has not lost control.  So, even in these tough times, we can all rely on Jesus to see us through!

I had a chance to do something completely different this time.  I hooked up with Abilene (pronounced like Maybeline) who is a local Christian hardcore/metal band located in Sanford, North Carolina, which is about 20 minutes from me.  So, we did our first video interview!  I am so stoked about how this turned out!  They guys in the band are awesome and did a great job.  They truly are a spirit filled band, and make no bones about talking about Christ.  They treat their music as a ministry and it shows through in their lyrics and music.  Keep in mind that I am not a pro at interviews, I am guy like you, and my editing skills are getting better!  So enjoy, have a laugh, and check out Abilene.  (I also reviewed their new EP “Blinded By Fear” below)

Abilene “Blinded By Fear” EP Review

So the guys put together this 6 song EP called “Blinded by Fear”  I first got my copy and immediately popped it into my car’s CD player and listened front to back.  The line up on the EP includes two guitars,
