For those of you who have not heard, HXCChristian.com will have a comp album due out around March 16th. Special thanks to our pals at Thumper Punk Records who helped with all the heavy lifting on the comp. “We at HXCChristian.com are really excited for this comp album to be released,” says Josh of HXCChristian.com, “not only did a ton of great bands step forward to contribute to the album, but the proceeds will help HXCChristian.com to continue to have a great presence at music festivals such as Cornerstone.” While HXCChristian.com keeps it overhead low by a pure DIY ethic, we really like to do it up at Cornerstone. Last year, we had an official generator tent where we were able to have bands do “meet-and-greets” with all the folks who attend Cornerstone. Leroy – lead singer for War of Ages, Andy – lead singer of A Plea For Purging, and the guys from Debtor, all came out to answer questions about the band, life on the road, and how God has used them to reach out to people at shows. We also had a pancake breakfast with Call to Preserve, and a free spaghetti dinner where we must have fed 200 people. We look forward to doing it bigger and better at Cornerstone this year. So, by purchasing a download of this comp, or buying the disc will help support our efforts.
Enough about us…..Who is on the comp? Well, we had 25 bands

Here is a great band to check out. With all the classic style of Social D mixed with a classic punk sound. The Way from California delivers in a big way. These guys have been pumping some solid punk rock for the past two years. They were recently picked up by our friends at Thumper Punk Records (who recently released “Hymns of Punk Rock Praise” by False Idle). So look for big things from The Way. We hope to see them at Cornerstone 2011. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for their first full length release on Thumper Punk.

Q: Where and when did The Way get there start?
A: The WAY started around January of ’09. Tank, Harry, and Ryan were in a band called “R.I.P. The old Me” and had just lost their singer. That’s when I joined the group. A couple of weeks later Manny came to a practice to try out on lead guitar and we never looked back!
Q: What is the significance of the name The Way?
A: I guess you could say that the Bible verse that drives this band most is John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” That verse is so powerful in its claim of absolute truth. It also fits with anything in life. It is the solution to any problem we face, any

It was bound to happen sooner or later, someone taking all the classic hymnals we know and love and turning them into classic punk rock anthems. Well, I would like to introduce you to False Idle. Some of you may know the brain child behind the project. Our pal Sef, formerly of the band uniSEF, Christian punk rock staple of Idaho. Sef’s new project False Idle is releasing an album jam packed with punk rock hymnals on newly formed record label Thumper Punk Records. I was able to catch up with Sef and David of Thumper Punk to learn more about False Idle, the upcoming release “Hymns of Punk Rock Praise,” and Thumper Punk Records. The new album will be available the last week of August. Go, get it, and praise God! Also, scoot over the the HXCChristian.com radio station, we are playing 3 songs from the upcoming album in the rotation!

Q: Can you give us an introduction to Thumper Punk Records? The label is fairly new to the scene, but from what we understand at HXCChristian.com you have some things in the works. Why did you start Thumper Punk Records? What can we expect from the label in the future?
A: (David) Thumper Punk Records was formed to help artists record, produce and distribute music that reflects a positive, Christ-centered message. I started writing a music blog (www.thumperpunk.com) several years ago to share information about

Debtor is a band that is making waves in the East Coast hardcore scene. In an area that is by all means mainly devoid of a Christian hardcore or punk scene, Debtor is leading the way for Christ into the scene. Being from the Philly area where Debtor is located, I know first hand that bringing their message to the scene is an uphill battle, but one that needs to be done. That being said, Debtor is a hardcore band that has a really unique sound, hardcore mixed with a little punk, and sprinkle in a little post hardcore sound ala Quicksand style and voila, there you have it. Debtor recently signed to Blood & Ink Records which is carrying their first album called “Deliverance,” you can get a copy of their album by visiting Blood & Ink Records.

Q: Tell me about the band: How long have you been together? Who are the members? How did the band start?
A: Well, I began the attempts to form this band as far back as Spring of 2006, but it didn’t become a full band until October 2007. That lineup was together for about a year, and then we were on hiatus for about another year before reforming in December 2009 with new members. The new lineup is Jon Eirich (guitar), Jason Warner (guitar), Skot Rudy (bass), Josh Galloway (drums), and myself, Alan Popoli (vocals).
Q: How long

I miss the “good ole days”. That is really the only statement that I can make. People were going to shows for the pure fact that that is where they truly wanted to be. They wanted to be a part of something. And the bands that were a part of this scene were ready to book a show with friends that they had. The thought of a booking agency was just unheard of. If you saw someone new, you would walk up and introduce yourself.
Let us fast forward to now. I am not a fan of these days of so called “hardcore”. I put hardcore in parenthesis for the fact that the true meaning of why this was all started is no longer alive. It is no longer shows, we have concert events. Bands have these big named booking agencies that will not talk to you unless you go through their agent. And their agents will not talk to you unless you have a cool concert promotion name and are willing to pay a so called “hardcore” band $8000 to come play with a stage plan and a tour rider. I have always said… if you want to become rich, go be in a bar band playing creed covers.
The fact is that most of the people that were all about hardcore pride we’re the ones that turned their backs and said “Forget this!” Now they hang out at the bars listening to talentless

I am excited to introduce you to Despised Youth Records. You are probably not familiar with DYR, but I am sure that you will be. Despised Youth is catering to the Christian hardcore and punk scene and signing bands that are true to those roots. So, hopefully they will stick to that and keep the screamo/metalcore stuff off the label (hint hint). I recently caught up with Jenna from Despised Youth and had the chance to ask her a few questions about the new label. All I can say about DYR is that there is buzz out there about them. Some of the bands they are talking to about signing are pretty impressive and are really excited about the possibility of working with the label. I am sure that we will have more news about DYR, the bands they sign, and the albums they release in the near future.
Q: How did Despised Youth Records come to be? Explain the affiliation to Open Grave Records.
A: I am a huge punk fan myself and I don’t see enough punk/hardcore record labels in the scene that are friendly toward Christian bands so I decided to start one. I approached James, an owner of Open Grave Records and promoted the idea. He agreed with me and we decided to partner up and founded this label.
Q: I have already heard from some bands that you are making waves in the industry, what is Despised Youth Records doing different that other labels are?
A: We
