Stand Together Fest Next Week!

So, a few of the HXCChristian.com staff will be going to Stand Together Fest next Friday and Saturday (the 13th and 14th of April) and we are super psyched to see some of the bands that will be playing. We know a lot of the bands on the bill and really look forward to hanging, having fellowship, and enjoying some good music. The good folks at Blood & Ink Records are the ones that are putting this event on and asked if we could help promote it in the final push to get as many people to the show as possible. It sounds like there is a good crowd coming out and there are still some tickets available.  Tickets are only $45 for a bunch of great bands, so, if you are within 2 hours, you have no excuse not to come and hang out.  You can find out more info on the Stand Together Fest website and buy tickets there.  As for Cornerstone, I (Josh) will not be going this year, however, we have a few folks that will be going, but I do not think we will be running a full tent this year.  More info to come on that in the coming month.   Here are some of the people we want to give shout outs to and look forward to finally meeting and hanging out with:

Sean and Daniel from Blood & Ink Records (we love you guys)

Kevin from Beacons (we both

Check Out With Increase From Tampa

Usually when I think of “melodic hardcore” I think of every band that I have ever heard that is some bush-league screamo band that doesn’t even come close to being a hardcore band.  So what comes to mind when I think of melodic hardcore or post hardcore?  How about bands like Quicksand, Fugazi, maybe 1.6 Band (look them up, you won’t be disappointed). So, when I heard With Increase, I was excited cause these young guys have some how figured out what a billion crappy screamo/metalcore bands have failed to figure out….how to actually play melodic hardcore.  I was lucky to catch these guys live at Cornerstone 2011 and they play with an intensity level that is sure to get you moving and pumped.  Check out the interview we did with the guys from With Increase, if you have the chance, hang with them and see them play, they are super cool dudes.

BAND: With Increase
MUSIC STYLE: Melodic/Post Hardcore (done right fool)
HOME TOWN: Tampa, FL

Q: With Increase has been around for a while, how far does the band go back and how did it get its start?

Travis – With Increase started in 2008 as a not very good tough guy mosh band that Paul, Justin and I started while we were in high school. We’ve been through several line up changes, stylistic changes, and a name change to get to what With Increase is now.

Justin – Doug our bassist joined early 2009 and our newest addition to the band

Cornerstone 2011 Wrap Up

Seems like Cornerstone 2011 was quick this year.  HXCChristian.com had a tent this year located next to the Legacy Stage.  Micah who runs the Legacy Stage reached out to us and asked if we could team up.  Of course we said yes.  So we were right in the middle of all the action.  This year we had our great DIY Gatorade, gave our free stickers, and other freebies.  We also did our annual spaghetti dinner on Thursday night.  We cooked 36 pounds of spaghetti and made 7 gallons of sauce for our event.  Every year, we are happy to serve hungry mouths at Cornerstone.  We do what we do because 1.  The Lord tells us to serve our fellow Christians, and 2.  We love the Christian hardcore scene, its people, and the bands.  What a better way to express our thanks and support than by feeding as many folks as we can.  And a special thanks to everyone who felt moved to give a donation, no matter how small or large, this helps keep us going, so thank you!

There were so many great bands playing this year, in particular, Blood & Ink records did a B&I family and friends day at the Solace Stage (which spanned two different days).  What was cool about this show is that it included such great B&I bands as Venia, Jawbone, Friends, Dependency, Thin Ice, Ironwill, Thirtyseven, Divide The Sea, and Debtor, but also bands including Cool Cough (side project of the guys

Cornerstone 2010 – HXCChristian.com Represents

Cornerstone has come and gone.  Even though it was almost a whole week, it feels like it went by quickly, and there is never enough time in the day to catch all the shows you would like to go and see.  And, when you running your own “Generator Tent” it is even harder.  I was there to see shows, tape them, talk to the bands, and to meet people and tell them about the site.  Not to mention meet a lot of great people that already know about the site and post on the forum.

Doug (one of the contributors at HXCChristian.com) did a pre-show in Campbellsville, KY the Sunday before Cornerstone.  I drove 9 hours to get to Campbellsville, it was an easy trip.  The show was awesome.  Doug is working with the University to put on show for all the kids and peeps in the area.  Apparently, like most small towns, there isn’t a whole lot to do there, so putting on shows is a great way to blow off steam and stay out of trouble.  The lineup was Restore the Roar (Doug’s band), Debtor (Philly hardcore), Worker (Tennessee hardcore), Dead Icons (Lexington hardcore), and The Showdown (Metal).  I was really impressed with Debtor and Worker (Debtor is a Christian band, Worker is not although their message is positive, and the dudes in the band are really cool).  It was a fun show, and I was glad that HXCChristian.com could be part of it.  After the show, RJ (HXCChristian.com

Quick News and Other Stuff

Hey Folks.  Some big things are going on.  God is doing great things through HXCChristian.com.  We are officially hosting a tent at Cornerstone Festival this year.  We were originally going to do an artists lounge, and setup a small tent to interview bands and meet all the cool people that grace the site and forum with their presence.  However, God has much bigger plans for us.  We are going to have an official tent, the HXCChristian.com tent.  We are looking for bands that want to do acoustic sets, or perhaps spoken word/questions from the fans about life on the road, great stories about shows gone wild, or about how God has used the band to reach out to people that otherwise have never heard the gospel or maybe rejected it.  I know that Call To Preserve, Debtor, and a few other bands said they would be down.  So if you are interested in having your band hang, we would love to meet you, hang with you, and have you guys play an acoustic set or do a group spoken word, or just share stories of life on the road.  Email me at Josh @ HXCChristian DOT com if you are interested.  We don’t have a schedule or anything.

In other news East Coast Christian hardcore band TEN33 unofficially officially announced (to me at least) that they are doing a reunion show in the near future.  If you know anything about these guys, then you know that they put on a great
